Here's some Linux help pages I have put together. If you have
found any of them helpful, or if you have found something that perhaps could be
explained better, please feel free to drop me a line and say so.
- I have upgraded from KDE-3.5.9 on Slackware-12.2 to KDE-4.2 from /current/testing(20 Frb. 2009). There are a few rough edges and here is how I have been sorting out my problems
- If I don't take notes I may not remember the next time. Here's some expanded notes which while a bit dated, may still be of use to someone.
- Saving dvb-t broadcasts and encoding them with command line tools.
- Setting up lilo for multi booting: I
originally compiled this info below and emailed it to a friend who was having
trouble setting up lilo to boot a second linux system on a dual boot
windows/linux box. It's not really a How-To but it may help folks
trying to get a handle on adding another system to a lilo.conf.
- Passwordless ssh: a brief How-To on setting up passwordles ssh
and running server side X applications on clients using passwordless ssh.
- Step by step instructions for setting
up a dial up connection using netconfig and pppsetup on a stand alone Slackware box.
- Step by step instructions for setting up a
dial up connection using kppp.
- Compiling programs from tarballs a.k.a. "source" This page
comprises notes that I put together for a presentation at a M.L.U.G.
meeting and which I later converted in O.O. to a web page. It's not in the same format as the rest of these pages but
hopefully someone can make some use of it.
